For years, the River Arts District or "RAD," has been a popular spot for visitors; however, many guests arrive with the question: "What do we do once we arrive?" In response, I created a tour that would hit the highlights and provide my guests with a hands-on RAD experience they would not forget! Starting at Magnetic Theatre, we will walk down Depot Street to learn about the history of the RAD, the artists and visit ONE gallery! We stop at the Grind Coffee for a taste of local brews, tour the historical Grey Eagle Music Venue and taste Taqueria snacks, view a glass blowing demonstration at the NC Glass Center. Then walk alongside the river, learning stories about the legends of the French Broad and what activities you can do on the river post-tour! The shorter, 10 am tour, will finish at Cotton Mill. The 2pm tour will finish on Foundy Street to learn about the graffiti that covers the walls and taste some local wine from Pleb or beer from wedge brewery. About 3 a mile walk

Logistics Instructions

Start location : Outside of the Theatre under the sign with the magnet on it! I recommend parking at the free parking lot right beside the theatre. Also if you want to park halfway between the meeting spot and the end, you can park at the visitor center in the river arts district

End location : The 2pm tour will end at the winery where you can taste wine specials that are specific to our tour guests or try local beers from the Wedge brewery.

Reminder to park at the mid way point so you don’t have to walk all the way back to the beginning. The RAD is a horseshoe not a loop!
