My mother Renu, and I have been running our homestay, Haamro Ghar since 2012. This experience is one of the activities our guests like to participate in with us.
Silai-Bunai in our language translates to as Sewing-Knitting. We learned and started woolwork since our teen years, mostly for ourselves and for home decor. But when we saw that others were interested in learning this form of handicraft, we began sharing our learnings, tips, and expertise.
With around 20 years of experience in various forms of yarn/thread work such as crochet, embroidery, stitching, sewing, and knitting, we want to save the art of handmade (over machine-made) by making it fun.
Start location : You will see a small road going up adjacent to the Axis Bank ATM in front of Jagjeet hotel. This is the Monastery Road/ Deose Dara Road. Walk on this road for about 3-5mins till you arrive at Mirik Court. The green building in front of Mirik Court is Haamro Ghar. This is the meeting point.
