This trail is the fastest and easiest way to get to the highest peak of Madeira Island, the Pico Ruivo (1862m), it is 6 km of walking, 3 km of one way and another 3 km of return, with the duration of 3 hours of walking with a calm step down a very accessible path. During the walk you will find the vegetation of altitude, and all the rock formation of volcanic origin in the highest peaks of the island, with several species of endemic flora of the island of Madeira. The arrival at Pico Ruivo has a superb view over Santana, the north coast and south coast of the island, which contrasts with the green of the forest and the blue of the sea and the sky. For this walk it is necessary to take warm clothes and impermeable, in case the temperature changes quickly, and sometimes the temperature in the winter can be in the 8 step, being the highest Peak of the island.
