Explore the magnificent Icefields Parkway on its way and watch for wildlife such as deer, moose, elk, bighorn sheep and mountain goats. Stops at Crowfoot Glacier, Bow Lake, Peyto Lake and “The Crossing” where three rivers meet; the mighty North Saskatchewan, the Howse and the Mistaya. The North Saskatchewan River rises in the Canadian Rockies and empties into Lake Winnipeg over 1,600 km (1,025 miles) east across the country. ​​ ​The Kootenay Plains is the traditional homeland of the Stony First Nations and is located between two mountain ridges. This is one of the largest unspoiled mountain eco region left in Alberta. The Kootenay Plains is a sacred place.
