Omis is a small Central Dalmatian town and harbour 25 km away from Split, situated in the mouth of the Cetina river, with beautiful beaches surrounded with massive gorges. Without any doubt, the Cetina River is one of the most beautiful places in Croatia for freshwater kayaking, white water rafting, and many more activities. It is situated in a luscious region surrounded by quaint little villages, it is the most water-rich river in Dalmatia and it's very important, both historically and archaeologically. The inhabitants of medieval Omis were pirates who for almost two centuries ruled the seas from Omis to Dubrovnik, and their ships were a symbol of retaliation, courage and strength. Today barren cliffs of the Mosor Mountain and the Dinara of Omis Mountain watch over the town and the spirit of past times can still be felt everywhere. This beautiful nature of one of the most diverse parts of Croatia will surely take your breath away.
