The US Liberty was a cargo ship used during both WW I and WW II. After being torpedoed by the Japanese, The Liberty, made its way to the shores of Tulamben where it still lies today. The eruption of Mount Agung in 1963 devastated surrounding villages and pushed the beached US Liberty to the bottom of the sea where it now lies on a black sand slope from 6 to 30 metres. This 120 metre long wreck lys only at few metres from the beach and is one of the safest wreck dives in the world. Now covered with a striking array of coral and home to a myriad of marine life this site provides great opportunities for both wide and macro photography. With easy conditions it’s a great place for all level divers.
