Take the train to Kawasaki, an hour away from Tokyo, and visit the Japan Open-air Folk House Museum to learn about the lives of the people from the Edo Period (1603-1868) . T
he open-air museum has a large collection of traditional houses from all over Japan, where you can see the difference in architectural techniques and styles that were developed to suit each area's climate and customs.
Your otomo tour guide will translate any Japanese explanations whilst at the museum. On this tour you will also experience traditional indigo dyeing, a dyeing technique developed during the Edo period. Dye your very own piece of cloth to keep as a souvenir of your trip!
Start location : Tour departs from The South Exit of the Odakyu Line, Mukogaoka-yuen Station. Your guide will be holding a sign of the otomo guide.
