The casual walking tour of the charming coastal city of Klaipėda will give you an excellent introduction to the city, its history, and some central sights. This tour features contemporary as well as historic sites. You will learn about the forces that have affected the region, including a fascinating pagan past with frequent migrations, Lithuania's status as a once European superpower, the Lithuanian Grand Duchy, important trade routes, the Teutonic Knights, Soviet rule and Prussian plus German expansion. Afterwards, you can stay in town for lunch, to do shopping, or further sightseeing, or return to the ship.
