About 25 million years ago, the African tectonic plate hit the European plate causing huge pressure to build the alpine chain. A layer of hard calcareous stone, almost vertically out of the seabed, formed the Durdle Door itself. Heading to the east, we will reach the lovely beach city of Bournemouth. Bournemouth beach is the ideal location regardless of the weather or time of the year, whether it's chilling on a deckchair and walking along traditional seaside piers or a relaxing beach hut.
