The Guajira Peninsula, located in the extreme north of Colombia and South America, is a land of dramatic contrasts. Drylands with beautiful deserts, lonely beaches and a culture that still preserves its oldest traditions, La Guajira is one of the most special and unique destinations in Colombia. Inhabited by the Wayuu natives, who still pay for their wives, watch over their dead for 40 days and believe that the word is the law, and within that vast territory there is a special place that the Wayuu indigenous people call Jepirra, according to native beliefs it is the sacred place where the dead spirits come to pass into the 'unknown', we call it Cabo de la Vela. It is a magical and enchanted place where a beautiful desert meets a turquoise sea.
