Our expert local guide will accompany you through the streets of the historic center. You will admire the famous square Piazza del Campo, where the Palio takes place twice a year and the majestic Palazzo Pubblico, the town hall. The tour continues towards the historic palaces Palazzo Tolomei, one of the oldest private buildings, Palazzo Salimbeni, headquarter of the oldest public bank in Europe. You will enter inside the Basilica of San Domenico and in the Sanctuary of St. Catherine, where the saint lived with her family. You will walk along the ancient via Banchi di Sopra, part of the via Francigena, one of the most important roads for pilgrims. The visit ends in Piazza Duomo, where you will be amazed by the wonderful Cathedral. The guide will take you back in time by telling you the extraordinary story of what had to become the largest Cathedral in Europe. During the visit it will be possible to taste some typical Sienese biscuits, Ricciarelli and Cantucci.
