Immerse yourself in the ancient traditions of the Mongolian and Kazakh people by experiencing the famous Golden Eagle Festival. The Golden Eagle Festival, locally known as the Burdegiin Bayar, is an annual traditional festival celebrating the golden eagle, its trainers, and the latter’s heritage. The Golden Eagle Festival is held in many places, but you can experience it for yourself close to Ulaanbaatar at Terelj National Park. In the festival, eagle trainers, using their specially trained golden eagles, hunt small animals like pups, foxes, and hares. After the hunt, prizes are awarded based on the speed, agility, and accuracy of the great eagles.
