There are two Romes. What you see in the guide books – going back centuries – and the modern capital of Italy, where people live their lives day in day out. Both have a lot to offer. If you think about it, it’s not such a bad idea to have your base where your typical Roman family lives. You will get to see the complete picture and experience Rome as a local. The City Guest House is located in a southeastern area of Rome called Numidio Quadrato, a name you may have recongised on the Metro A map if you’ve already visited Rome. There are plenty of interesting things to see in the area too, including the Parco degli Acquedotti where you can find and Cinecittà, where many movies are still being produced. The 1951 classic Ben Hur was shot there. More recently, Gangs of New York and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou where shot here. A 15 minute ride on the Metro and you’re in the heart of Rome The metro stop Numidio Quadrato (Line A) is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. From there it’s a 15 minute ride to the Spanish Steps.
