This hotel was, without doubt, one of the grand hotels of Lima and enjoys an excellent position in the very centre of historical downtown Lima. However, it has been left for a long time without major refurbishments and, therefore, it is now in need of a major renovation to bring it back up to the standard it once held. It has excellent examples of antique furnishings, such as the lift which serves the hotel, but it needs to be worked on throughout the hotel. Nevertheless, for budget traveller this is definitely a very good choice. (05/08 RD)

The hotel is conveniently located in the historical centre of Lima, in the downtown in Plaza San Martín, one of the most famous squares in Lima. This is where Peru's independence was proclaimed.
