The Pousada is the result of the refurbishment of the historic "São Teutónio" Hospital, one of the oldest in the city, dating back to 1842. The refurbishment has been made by the famous architect Gonçalo Byrne. Opened on the first 2009 quarter, it features outdoor and heated indoor pools, sauna, Turkish bath, tropical showers, ice fountain, massage room, relax room, Jacuzzi and gym. This is the first Portuguese "Pousada" with a Spa. It boasts 84 well decorated rooms combining modern design and a historic building.
