Built in 1862, the hotel is a combination of Victorian private hotel and Art Deco design. It includes 82 rooms spread over 5 floors. Facilities include a cosy bar as well as a restaurant. Guests can also make use of the public Internet terminal or the hotel room service. The lobby is medium sized and traditional in character with some touches from the 1930s.
The hotel is situated at the head of Oban's north pier, about 1 km by foot from the beach.
There are three bars within the hotel in which to sample a dram of warming single malt or enjoy a meal prepared by the skilled in-house chefs. There is also a terrace area overlooking the sea where guests can relax. The restaurant provides a relaxed setting to enjoy traditional Scottish cuisine.
