The name "Pousada da Vigia" means "Watcher´s Inn" and it´s an allusion for a local cultural tradition from 250 years ago - witch one is still followed by the local fishermen till the present time - of taking turns to watch the shoal of fishes (mullets specially) from the rocks near to the sea (Watcher Rocks) while the other fishermen stand on the beach watching carefully and awaiting for a sign or a whistle to move their typical boats quickly towards to the sea and then to "siege" the shoals with their huge fishnets.andlt;brandgt; andlt;brandgt; The Inn was built as the residence known by the natives as the "Governor´s House". The place was totally remodeled and rearranged to offer all comfort to our guests.
