The hotel takes its name from the nearby Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the longest canal in the world, flowing from the capital city some 1,794 km south to Hangzhou. Built in 2009, the air-conditioned hotel comprises 331 guest rooms and a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, cloakroom and lift access. Additionally, there are three restaurants, a bar and lobby lounge, as well as seven meeting rooms, a business centre, WLAN Internet access and the Club Lounge in the hotel. Room and laundry services are provided for guests' convenience, and those arriving by car may take advantage of the car park.
The hotel is less than 10 minutes' drive from Wulin Square, 15 minutes from the charming scenery of the West Lake and some 45 minutes from Xiaoshan International Airport.
