The hotel is a country house hotel, the original building dates back to 1857 and has 71 bedrooms in total, 52 modern, contemporary designed rooms in the Woodlands Wing and 19 traditional, individually designed and furnished bedrooms in the old hall. The old hall has beautiful traditional furnishings and working open log fires. The grand entrance hall serves as the lobby.

The hotel is located on the edge of the historic market town of Guisborough, approx 15-30 mins from the north east coastal area of Saltburn and Whitby and approximately 25 min from the nearest town which is Middlesbrough.

The restaurant overlooks the formal gardens and offers a menu with a regional feel. Light food and snacks with homemade Yorkshire afternoon teas are available in the lounge areas and drawing room.
