Portinari Design Hotel was inaugurated in 2003, in Rio de Janeiro, located between the world known beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, in the south zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Tthe hotel was designed with the purpose of creating a new concept of design in the hotel business. Named after one of the most famous painters in Brazil, it symbolized the boldness, quality and a deep love for the Brazilian culture. Striving to represent the soul and essence of the best quality in decoration, attendance, comfort and originality. Decorated by 10 of the most famous artists, decorators and architects from Brazil, some even recognized internationally, are proud to reflect in their art the principles and light started by the Painter Candido Portinari. Each environment -restaurant, apartments, spa, lobby- has a unique touch of each designer: Marcia Muller, Redó, Luiz Fernando Grabowski, Stella de Orleans e Bragança, Hélio Fraga, Gilmar Peres, Gustavo Penna e Cadas Abranches. The Bar and reception, signed by Sig Bergamin, restaurant, fitness center and kitchen contain a light and creative touch by Choco Gouvêa, offering a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere.

The hotel is located in the famous district of Copacabana, just 30 m from the beach. Guests will find restaurants, bars and links to the public transport network within a couple of minutes' walk and the nearest nightspots are just a 10-minute walk. The Forte de Copacabana is 10 minutes' walk, as is Ipanema and is is 20 minutes on foot to Arpoador.
