Located on the fringe of Singapore´s Chinatown on the colourful Keong Saik Road, the 4 star Hotel 129 is a stylish new Boutique Hotel. Formerly a pre-war shop-house built in 1929, the hotel´s Art Deco interior design and ultramodern gismos makes this a great alternative to Singapore´s high rise complexes, and being just 10 minutes walk from Outram Park MRT it is an ideal base from which to further explore this most vibrant of cities. All of the air-conditioned rooms are individually designed in a modern minimalist style and offer all modern amenities including satellite TV, internet access, radio, minibar, safe, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer. The cosy Ember Restaurant has acclaimed chef Sebastian Ng at the helm and offers a wide range on International cuisine and some of Singapore´s best wines. Other guest facilities include a Coffee Shop and rooftop Hot Tub. The lobby is small, there is a little seating area and looks more like a upmarket furniture shop with classic pieces of European designer chairs (as in the rooms) and designer lighting. To the left is the restaurant Ember. The liberal use of glass and mirrors has maximised the small space. A single lift services the 4 floors.
Located in the colorful area of Keong Siak Street and on the fringe of Chinatown, the buildings consist of pre-war shop houses (named after its build date, 1929) which is the alternative to the unbiquitious glass and concrete modern hotels. A short walk to the famous Smith street and Pagoda Street where one could get many choices of local delights in the evenings.
