Formerly part of the Abbey of Blanchland and full of character and architectural features, the hotel is a Grade II Listed building with traditional stone flagged floors and in parts dates back to the 12th century. The tranquil gardens were the Abbey's cloisters and the hotel also features a restaurant, private dining room, bar and conference facilities as well as being licensed to perform civil marriages.
