Getting Around Djerba
As a major city and island in Tunisia, Djerba Island is provided with all the necessary means and facilities that ensure comfort for its visitors supplied with all means of transportation that help people in moving throughout Tunis. Remarkably Djerba encloses an airport that receives flights from various destinations throughout the world and in the high season it receives about four flights. It is Djerba International Airport that locates next to the northwest Mellita Village.
Djerba is also supplied with car ferry service for transporting people throughout the hours of the day from the Jerban Ajim port to El Jorf in a 20 minutes journey.
The main bus station in Djerba locates in Ave Habib Bourguiba at the southern edge of Houmt Souq. There are numerous buses for transmitting people from Djerba to other cities of Medenine. Additionally, there is a station for louages for helping people to travel throughout the governorate. To travel from Djerba to Gabes, one can take TD6; to Medenine take either TD5 or 2, in addition to other louages directed to Tunis, Sousse, and Sfax.
